You may even go for a walk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s one of our greatest gifts, and when we manage early in life to use our legs to get around, it\u2019s cause for celebration. Parents call their parents just to report on the event. The very fact that walking\u2014 or whatever form of ambulation you use to get around\u2014is so central to our lives makes it a ready focus for mindful, meditative attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s a simple set of instructions for one form of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mindful.org\/a-guided-walking-meditation-to-connect-with-your-senses\/\">walking meditation<\/a>. There are many variations. This one relies on a pace that is close to how we might walk in everyday life, and in fact it can be adapted for walking in the street\u2014just as long as you remember to pay attention to street lights, other people, and not looking like a zombie.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mindful.org\/content\/uploads\/walking.jpeg\" alt=\"Walking meditation instruction\" style=\"width:283px;height:600px\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading rtecenter\" id=\"h-1\">1.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stand up <span style=\"color: #a9306f\"> STRAIGHT <\/span> with your back upright but not stiff<\/strong>. Feel your feet touching the ground and let your weight distribute evenly.<br>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading rtecenter\" id=\"h-2\">2.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Curl the <span style=\"color: #a9306f\">THUMB<\/span> of your left hand in and wrap your fingers around it.<\/strong> Place it just above your belly button. Wrap your right hand around it, resting your right thumb in the crevice formed between your left thumb and index finger.
